Double Hill Station Heliflights and Rakaia Gorge High Country Experience

This large sheep and cattle station borders the Rakaia River and some of the best high country scenery in New Zealand. We fly for 30 minutes from Christchurch airport west towards Methven, Mt Hutt and Terrace Downs and from here into Double Hill Stations’ own airfield.

Here we are met by owners Tim and Anna who operate the lodge, heli adventure operations and a large working farm. You will be taken on a 25 minute helicopter flight into this stunning landscape, and see first hand and up close how the landscape here is still being sculpted by glaciers including the Cameron which you will land on and disembark for photos.

Return to the lodge for a refreshment before your 30 minute flight back to Christchurch.
